I am an optimist. I believe that if we do good things, "goodness will follow us." You can call me naive. I don't mind. This belief has only been strengthened by finding Knit-a-Square. How can you not be in awe of a family who chose to say "Yes, we can." When it would have been so much easier to say, "It's too big of a problem. There is nothing we can do." Look at all the goodness that has followed them. People all over the world have joined KAS, making it their own. We are making it our responsibility to keep these children warm. Whether you make one square or hundreds or simply "like" our page on Facebook, you are making a difference.
By launching my participation in the Knit-a-Squillion Challenge through the Internet, I have touched many more people than I could have hoped. And at the same time, I have received so much. The goodness and generosity of all of you involved in Knit-a-Square is humbling and heartwarming. No hate or violence or sadness or illness in the world can overshadow the joy I feel seeing the goodness of all you extraordinary people!
Look at what we have received this week:
Two continuing contributors
Sophie from Quebec City
Dayle from British Columbia who was the first person to send in squares. She also added a rain poncho, so needed!
And two new KAS friends
Suzie from Iowa, 50 gorgeous squares!!
And an amazing 50 hats from Sharon in Florida and 20 squares from her friend Ruth!
Add caption
Thank you all so much for being such, selfless, generous people!
This brings our total to 153 squares, 55 hats and 1 Kascuddle!!
One last thing to share on this first day of April. Each month KAS proposes a theme for the squares as a motivation to keep the creative juices flowing. This month the theme is flags of the world and everyone is thrilled with the idea. It is only the first day and yet hundred of flags have already been made. Follow this link to see the gorgeous photos and here for information on the challenge in the forum.

Did you get my squares? I mailed them March 23. Hope they are not lost.
I absolutely agree - do good things, and good things will follow! It's just a simple fact, and Knit-a-Squillion is a perfect example. :) You've got an amazing collection so far - I hope you get tons more squares, hats, Kascuddles; you name it!
Hugs! <3
Brilliant news - someone was asking me where they should send their squares, and I forgot to get back to you. Perhaps you could let me know, so that I can give them the info?
Awesome post Laurie! We are so much alike, with our optimism and belief that what you put out there will come back to you....and your friendship is one of the "gifts" that I have received as a result of my work with KAS!
Beautiful post Laurie! I am so glad to hear about all the wonderful squares you have collected and that you are going to make a big difference in the lives of so many children.

Everyday Inspired
Lynette, not to worry! Sometimes it can take two weeks. I will let you know the minute they arrive!
Taylor, I really appreciate your constant support!
Isobel, that's wonderful!
It's really a question of cost. I don't know if it's cheaper from the UK to send directly to South Africa or to Canada.
Your friend can follow this link to find both my address and the address in South Africa.

Thank you so much!
Mary Anne, thanks so much! It is a gift for me too!
Valerie, thanks so much! I really am thrilled with how this is going!
Oh! 50 squares from a single person? I am not going to be able to beat her record! And so many hats! Amazing! Laurie, you really have touched so many people and no wonder, because you are such a good hearted woman. That is why you attract only good. And you know, every challenge that life throws at you is just to reassure you hat you are strong! I love knowing you!
Remeber Sonya, and everyone else, it's not a competition! Every square counts!
I don't attract only good, but the good I do get is very good, like having friends like you!
I definitely believe that what you share with the world you get back, often ten-fold. Kindness out, kindness in. I think it's wonderful and heartwarming when people come together for a loving cause. I love your updates on this, it always makes me smile to see that square tally increase. And oh my, 50 hats? That is unbelievably amazing!! :)
